During the Retirement Village Project planning and Development Application process, it has become clear that it is necessary to advance the master planning for the balance of the IGC freehold and leasehold land to ensure that IGC is well prepared for the future and of course for the RV Project if we are successful in obtaining a satisfactory Development Application approval.
To do this, we need to select a Course Architect. The selection process is designed to ensure that the new course architect is the best possible choice for IGC. We are aiming to secure a high level of interest from internationally prominent architects who recognise this as a unique opportunity to showcase themselves and their work.
The aim is to appoint the Course Architect before the end of 2018.

Since the Special General Meeting in November 2017, (relating to the Retirement Village project), a large amount of discussion and planning has been underway about not only the Project itself, but the very important Course Architect strategy.
At the SGM, members were advised that “….the Club plans to seek the services of an internationally prominent course architect to design the reinstatement of the Green #5 through #9 holes… and Ross Watson will continue as course architect for the West Course only.”
In the months since the SGM, and after very detailed and careful thought, the Board has come to the view that having separate architects for the East and West courses going forward is unlikely, for multiple reasons, to deliver the very best possible course design and overall facility outcomes for the Club. Also, the situation demands long term thinking with the course designs and an architect involved who is available and committed to IGC for a significant forward time period.
